2022-07-12 file created WITH DON'S PERMISSION, I AM SHARING THIS EMAIL EXPLAINING HOW THE VINCENT DNA PROJECT WAS CREATED BY DON VINCENT AND TERRY BARTON AT WORLDFAMILIES.NET JANUARY 2008. from:Donald G Vincent to: "ronv@ronv.net" date:Tue, Dec 13, 2016 at 12:00 PM ... I had always been interested in my family history and stories... I began the directed research around 1968 and have collected notes and pictures. I was interested in how my immediate family collected in CT from areas of New York and Quebec and Nova Scotia and then separated to CA... In 1980 I moved to N. Vermont and was close to my father’s birthplace and near my Grandfather and Great Grandfather’s Canadian home. I worked back to the Vincent who left New York for Canada and was having fun... In 2006 I tested with National Geographic Geno. I transferred the results to FTDNA. There was no organized Vincent site. With the help of World Families and Terry Barton I agreed to begin one [2008]. That was the beginning. Early on I had nine interested people. Five were [Haplogroup] R1b1c (all were found to be related to the Vincent family of Sheridan’s and my line). Others were E3a7; I1c; N; and R1a. I discovered a group with a Null 439 category and followed that to L1. Had help from Leo Little. I tested with Ethno Ancestry for confirmation. Later David Laid directed me to YSEQ and discovered I’m A226 [L1 about 2500 years distant and UK] James Fox was also a help in my learning. After a few years I needed an administrative break... Then, thankfully, you stepped up. You are lucky to have good co-administrators. I wish a few more people I know would test or test further but I think I’ve done my best. [I WOULD WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE!!! ~rv~] It's been fun learning Vincent surname history. Yes, Sheridan and I are in the same family with a common ancestor (10 generations, I think).
