1908 photo of Oakley, Oma, and Aaron

The black lady at far left was "Aunt" Febbie.  She was employed as a "Mammy" (a domestic) for the children.
She and her husband were neighbors who owned land near the Vincent Place in Talladega County.  When I
was a young child, I would sit on my Aunt Evelyn's lap as she sang old spirituals that Aunt Febby taught her
when Aunt Evelyn was a small child.  My father's siblings grew up loving their Aunt Febby dearly.

On the back of the photo of her parents Oakley and Oma, Aunt Evelyn wrote, "Our Home at Stockdale
Talladega Ala   Mama & Daddy also (Aunt Febbie) our Mamy   The baby was Aaron
On the rear of the house was a gro. store can be seen in this picture.

Below that I wrote at the same time with the same pen, "Inscription at Base of picture reads:
'Our Home 1908."

At the very bottom, Aunt Evelyn wrote, "P.S. I gave this to Ronnie in 1971  Aunt Evelyn."

The original photo was glued to black card stock by the travelling photographer.  It's a small photo, only
5 x 7 and a bit washed out from over exposure along the edges.

On the back of the photo of her parents Oakley and Oma, Aunt Evelyn wrote,

I was able to scan and greatly enlarge the small photo on my scanner.  The enlargement has more detail.

Below is a closeup of Oakley, Oma, and Aunt Febby.  You can click it for a larger copy but be advised it also
is large, about half the size of the oversized copy above (6MB) and may take a while to open.

If you look at it very carefully, you may see somehthing interesting.  A distant relative may have spotted a
small change purse or coin purse that appears to be tucked under the bottom of Oakley's suspender on the
right side of the photo.  Hat's off to Linda Trimm for this discovery.

Oakley never carried a wallet that I'm aware of.  He always kept his money in a small, leather coin purse
with a snap closure at the top.  This is one he carried that was given to my parents.
This little coin purse was owned by Oakley.  It's about 4 inches tall by about 5 inches wide.

Here's the really CLOSE closeup.  You can click it for a larger copy but be advised it's large like the 15MB file
above.  This one is not quite half that size (6MB) but it still may take a while to open.
